your smile, our priority
orthodontics
Starting from 2025 we are adding new orthodontics to our comprehensive dental care for your entire family.
How do we carry out orthodontic treatment?
1) initial orthodontic consultation
During your first visit to orthodontics, we will perform a brief examination of your teeth and discuss with you whether orthodontic treatment is possible and appropriate in your case. If you are not yet a patient of Dentální centrum Mánesova and your registering dentist is referring you to us, please provide us with a referral letter and an X-ray (it is advisable to send this in advance by email to our reception).
2) initial examination
In this visit you will undergo all the steps necessary for us to develop your treatment plan. During the initial examination, we will take photos of your teeth, face, profile and smile, and x-rays (kephalometric and possibly panoramic if we do not have one from your general dentist). We will also scan your teeth with an intraoral scanner so that we have a digital 3D model of your teeth. If necessary, we will supplement the examination with a CBCT scan.
3) treatment plan consultation
Based on the data from the initial examination, we will develop an individual treatment plan for you, which we will guide you through in detail during this visit. We will explain your treatment options including their financial and time aspects, and answer your questions. Together we will then select the most suitable solution for your specific case.
4) start of active treatment
The treatment itself will start with the application of fixed braces (for both jaws usually in two visits) or handing over of the removable braces. We will educate you on the care of your braces and instruct you on how to properly care for your teeth with braces.
5) regular monitoring
Of course the ongoing treatment needs to be continuously monitored, so we will see you at regular check-ups. The intervals are individual, usually 6-8 weeks for fixed braces and every 3 months for removable braces. Orthodontic treatment usually lasts up to 2 years.
During orthodontic treatment, it is also usually necessary to undergo professional tooth cleaning more frequently.
6) treatment termination, retention and post treatment monitoring
Once a satisfactory tooth position is achieved a decision can be made to terminate the treatment. In the case of a fixed braces, those are removed. Once the active phase of orthodontic treatment is completed, the retention phase occurs as the result of the treatment needs to be stabilized. In order to maintain the achieved condition, a fixed retainer (retention wire on the back of the teeth) should be placed and at the same time special transparent retention splints should be worn according to the instructions. The length of time wearing splints is gradually reduced, while fixed retainers are recommended to be left in the mouth for at least 10 years, if not for life. Even after the treatment is over, check-ups are still carried out for some time, but at much longer intervals.

consultation price and insurance
At the moment we do not have a contract with any insurance company for orthodontic treatment due to the difficult and lengthy administrative process.
However the insurance company only contributes to orthodontic treatment for patients up to 22 years of age. In the case of fixed braces, the insurance company only pays for the orthodontic treatment (i.e. the work of the doctor), the patient fully pays for the materials used. Removable braces are partially covered by the insurance company.
The financial plan is drawn up for each patient individually according to the proposed treatment plan and the materials used.
The price of an initial orthodontic consultation is 500 CZK.
